"The eerie night life"

The midnight darkness ever so hard to see through
the silence of the house so deadly
hearing every creek and the whisper of what little air blows through the cracks
looking through a pain glass window into the eerie darkness
and watching limbs sway in the unrelenting breeze
seeing what the night is filled with, hunters and prey
rodents scurry and scowl while birds and cats on the prowl
heaving all sorts of noises
A creaky board whines do to its expansion in the nights summer heat
a poorly valved faucet drip's
the AC's fan humming slightly in the distance
and the lights of passing motorist timed in perfect intervals
the cry of an owl about to get his last kill
as dawn approaches and the night life ready to rest they're eyes
and the sunlight spills onto the earth waking the sleeping and coaxing the wake to rest till night
(dedicated to the night dwellers)
